Police investigating new leads after rape of Polish woman in Hoorn park
The Hoorn police are investigating several tips in their search for the man who raped a 31-year-old Polish woman early this month. He attacked her in broad daylight in a park between Schout in Hoorn and Dorpsstraat in Zwaag.
The man approached the woman while she was walking in the park at around 5:00 p.m. on August 3. He pulled her into the bushes and raped her.
Witnesses saw the man and the victim emerge from the bushes at the same. The man fled on a bicycle, and the woman sought their help. She doesn’t know the man who raped her.
The police did a forensic investigation at the scene, and officers went into the neighborhood to talk to locals and seek witnesses. That led to one tip. A week and a half later, the police said they’d received multiple tips.
“Our detectives are still following up on them,” a police spokesperson told NH Nieuws.
The incident shocked the neighborhood. “That this could happen in the middle of the day is incomprehensible. It is always busy here. Unbelievable,” a local told NH Nieuws.
