Woman found naked and injured after assault in Terneuzen; man shot in Rotterdam

A 35-year-old woman from Schoondijke, Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, was found naked and injured in Terneuzen on Saturday morning. A 39-year-old man from Graauw was arrested for assaulting her. The man was also accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Officers received a report in the morning that there was a fight between a man and a woman at the Buitenhaven in the Zeeland city. As they headed that way, a car came across the bike path. The driver, a 39-year-old man, appeared to have previously been in contact with the police for driving under the influence. That was also the case this time. He had drunk too much and was under the influence of drugs. He also no longer had a valid driver's license. The man's car was seized, as was a quantity of cannabis he had with him, the police reported.

In the meantime, other officers had driven to Jozinastraat, where, according to bystanders, a naked woman was walking. She was found in Tholensstraat. The 35-year-old woman was injured and indicated that the man from Graauw had abused her. The officers took care of the injured woman, and then she was taken to hospital by ambulance. The suspect was taken to the station.

In another incident, a 32-year-old man from The Hague was shot in Zuid-Rotterdam on Friday night. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries, the police reported. The shooter is still on the run.

Shots were fired in the night from Friday to Saturday at 3 a.m. Footage showed that the victim was lying on the Wolphaertsbocht in Charlois in front of a café. The 32-year-old man was resuscitated and then taken to hospital. The police are investigating the cause of the shooting incident and are looking for the perpetrator(s).
