Gov't may reopen terraces on June 1, hair salons next week: report
The government is considering allowing cafes and restaurants to open their outside terraces again from June 1. Hair salons may open as early as next week, insiders told ANP. On Tuesday the government is meeting to discuss gradually reversing the lockdown.
The government is also changing its motto in this new phase of lockdown, from urging people to stay home to urging them to keep their distance and avoid crowds, ANP reported. According to broadcaster NOS, the focus is changing from "stay at home as much as possible" to "stay at home if you have symptoms".
One of the topics on the agenda, according to ANP, is obliging travelers to wear masks on public transport. Trains, buses and subways will still only be intended for necessary trips for the time being. Because it is unclear whether people will be able to keep 1.5 meters a part, an obligation to wear masks is being considered to reduce the risk of the coronavirus spreading.
It is not yet clear what conditions are attached to contact professions, like hair dressers, which would allow them to be able to work again.
Most of the restrictions in place to curb the spread of the coronavirus, are effective until May 20 or June 1. Events have been banned until September. And primary schools are opening on Monday, May 11. Kids have also been allowed to play sports together since last week.
