Netherlands officially offers Malaysia aid in Dutch model's murder investigation

The Malaysian authorities can call on Dutch forensic expertise in the investigation into the murder of 18-year-old Ivana Smit. The Netherlands formally offered its aid on Wednesday morning, Christoph Prommersberger, the deputy ambassador to Malaysia, said on Twitter. Whether the Dutch aid will be accepted, is not yet clear.

The murder investigation into the young Dutch model's death was reopened on November 22nd, after the Supreme Court of Malaysia overturned a previous ruling that Smit's death was an accident.

Ivana's naked body was found on a 6th floor balcony of an apartment building in Kuala Lumpur on December 8th, 2017. She had fallen from the 20th floor apartment belonging to Americans Alexander and Luna Johnson after a night spent drinking, doing drugs and partying with the couple.

Ivana's family is convinced the Johnsons had something do do with her death.
