Teen girl killed in Rotterdam was meant to be kidnapped: Report

The suspect accused of murdering a 16-year-old girl outside of her school in Rotterdam late last year wanted to kidnap her, not kill her, the prosecution is expected to detail in court next week. Bekir E. was arrested for gunning down Humeyra Oz on Dec. 18 at Designcollege, a crime which he confessed to in January.

The allegation that the incident was meant to be a planned abduction was is based on the criminal complaint prepared by the prosecutor, according to multiple media outlets in The Netherlands. The evidence against E. and co-defendant Mohammed Al-M., 25, is said to include a key to the home where Oz was going to be kept as a kidnapping victim, a map of the Designcollege grounds, and a mobile phone with various photos of Oz, RTV Rijnmond reported. Al-M. was seen at the location earlier in the day asking students what time classes were expected to let out, NOS stated.

Oz was shot and killed at the bicycle parking area of her school. The murder took place 45 minutes before she was to discuss her allegations with police, including claims that E. was stalking and threatening her for over a year.

The initial hearing in the case is scheduled for court on Tuesday. Both men are reportedly on probation for previous convictions, the Rijnmond said. Al-M. was convicted on allegations of stalking someone and aiming a loaded weapon at them, NOS added.

E. had also been banned from contacting Oz, the 16-year-old victim.
