Police raid dozens of Hague apartments

The police are busy with a major action in The Hague, particularly focused on the Ypenburg district, on Tuesday morning. Over 30 apartments were raided in the early morning hours. The police suspect that criminals stay in these apartments - they're rented out, but officially no one is registered as living there, NOS reports.

Some 200 police officers in balaclavas started raiding six apartment buildings in Ypenburg at around 5:00 a.m. Three men were arrested. The suspects are 57, 43 and 36 years old and from Zoetermeer, Nootdorp and Rijswijk. They're suspected of money laundering and acting as broker for the tenants, so that the tenants themselves could remain hidden.

The raids are still happening. Officials from the municipality of The Hague, the Tax Authority, and its investigative department FIOD are helping with the action. Sniffer dogs trained to find money and drugs were also deployed.

The police and Public Prosecutor will announce the results of the raids at a later time.
