Unseasonably warm weather to linger in Netherlands this week

The unseasonably warm weather will remain in the Netherlands for a few days yet, according to Weerplaza. This is because the remnants of tropical hurricanes Leslie an Michael are leaving over the Mediterranean, instead of crossing our country as expected.

On Monday maximum temperatures will rise to between 22 and 25 degrees. It will be mostly sunny and dry. Tuesday will also still be sunny and warm, with maximums between 21 and 25 degrees expected.

Wednesday and Thursday will cool down to between 17 and 20 degrees in the afternoons, but still above the usual temperatures for mid-October. More clouds and occasional showers are expected. The weekend is expected be around what is usual for this time of year, with maximums around 15 degrees.

Over the past weekend multiple heat records were broken. Friday, Saturday and Sunday were all the warmest October 12th, 13th, and 14th ever recorded. On Saturday temperatures even rose to 28 degrees in some places. Sunday's record was broken when temperatures climbed to 25 degrees in Limburg, compared to the previous record of 24 degrees, according to NOS.

Three years ago the Netherlands had its first snow of the season on October 14th. Limburg woke up to a world covered in white on October 14th, 2015 and maximum temperatures in the province did not climb above 5 degrees Celsius, according to RTL Nieuws.
