Police rescue kids from hot cars

The Dutch police rescued children from sweltering cars in two separate incidents on Thursday. Both incidents were reported to Veilig Thuis, the hotline for domestic violence and child abuse, ANP reports.

Two children were taken from a hot car parked at a supermarket in Ter Aar, Zuid-Holland. The kids' father, a 38-year-old man from Kaag en Braassem, was arrested.

Another child was taken out of a car in Assendelft in Noord-Holland. "The child was not very conscious and sweaty from the heat", the police wrote on Facebook. The child was checked over by paramedics as a precaution, and is doing well.

The police thanked those who reported the children for their alertness. "Let this be an extra reminder", the Zaanstreek police said on Facebook. "Do not leave children or animals in cars with these temperatures. Within minutes the temperature can quickly rise in cars."
