Fmr Amsterdam school principle gets prison for child pornography

The former principal of Het 4e Gymnasium in Amsterdam was convicted for possessing and producing child pornography. The court sentenced him to 1.5 years in prison on Wednesday, NU.nl reports.

Hans V.'s name surfaced in a Swiss child porn investigation in 2014. When his home was searched in 2015, the police found thousands of pornographic photos and videos featuring children. V. photoshopped footage of his students onto existing pornography, thereby creating new material. And he secretly filmed pupils during conversations, zooming in on their crotches.

The court ruled that the man violated the trust of the pupils, their parents and the entire school. The court also found him partially responsible for abusing children, because for many years he contributed to maintaining the demand for child pornography.

The sentence is six months lower than what the Public Prosecutor demanded, because the court did not consider it proven that V. himself distributed child pornography.
