Tesla investigating fatal accident in Baarn

Car manufacturer Tesla is investigating a car accident in Baarn on Wednesday morning in which one man was killed. The man was driving a Tesla car when he crashed into a tree at high speed, NOS reports. It is unclear whether the man was using the car's self-driving function when the accident happened. Technicians from Tesla Nederland are at the scene to try and determine what happened, a spokesperson for the self-driving car manufacturer said to the broadcaster. According to him, such an investigation is standard procedure. The company will share the investigation's results with the public. The car ended up on its roof, some of its batteries coming loose. The police are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident. The Tesla technicians are also helping the fire department in removing the man's body from the car. The fire department has little experience with such severely damaged electric cars, which carry a very high voltage. "The car is so damaged that we are uncertain how to proceed without putting the rescuers at risk", a spokesperson for the fire department said.
