Albert Heijn removes cartoons from unhealthy snacks

From now on Albert Heijn will only have cartoon characters and childhood heroes on responsible products of its own brand, in an attempt to make unhealthy snacks less attractive to children, NU.nl reports. The supermarket chain's intention is to have cartoons only on health products by the end of nixt year. The first responsible products will be a series of nine children's desserts. Three of these treats will have no added sugar, the rest will have no more than 5 grams of added sugar. Fat content is limited to no more than 1.5 percent. These desserts will be decorated with cartoon characters RockFrogs. "The Council of Children is helping us with this", Saskia Egas Reparaz, head of marketing at Albert Heijn, said to NU.nl. "Their advice was childishly simple: make healthy eating easy, so make sure it's fun, tasty and appealing."
