Two dead, three hurt when wrong-way driver causes head-on crash

Two people were killed in a head-on collision on the A79 between Maastricht and Heerlen on Friday. The accident was caused by a person driving on the wrong side of the highway. Three people were seriously injured and taken to the hospital, according to the police. The accident happened on the near Klimmen. One of the two killed was the person who was driving on the wrong side, according to NU. Two cars were involved in the accident. The police said nothing about the identities of the victims. The highway was closed in both directions as emergency services offered what help they could and the police investigated.Traffic was redirected. The highway was closed for more than 3 hours before being released.
