Emergency services responded to Paddepoelsterweg in Groningen en masse on Sunday after a passerby reported a body in the water. Closer inspection revealed that it was not a person at all, but a realistic sex doll, the police said on Twitter.

A passerby reported the 'body' around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday. Emergency services responded with a large number of personnel, because clothes were also found on the side of the water, according to ANP. Boating traffic in the area was halted for a time.

Emergency services pulled a skater out of the freezing water on Middelland in Hank on Wednesday morning after he fell through the thin ice. The 75-year-old man from Sleeuwijk in Noord-Brabant was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, where he later passed away, police said in a statement.

The man was skating on Gat van Loopgauw, on the edge of nature reserve De Biesbosch, when the accident took place. Passersby saw him in the water and called the emergency services just after 10:30 a.m.

A Dutch skier was killed in an accident on the slopes of a ski resort in Sölden, Austria on Sunday. The 50-year-old man collided with a wooden marker during a descent and flew 15 meters through the air before landing on the ground, RTL Nieuws reports.

An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene, but could not land due to thick fog. Other skiers and emergency services tried to resuscitate the Dutch man, but he died at the scene.

The victim was on holiday with five family members. Where in the Netherlands he was from, has not yet been revealed.

After a long search, emergency found and recovered the body of a 42-year-old Dutch man from a mountain of gravel in Germany, just across the border from Dinxperlo. Four men were c while working on the Kieswerk Breels excavation site on Tuesday. Two were rescued with only minor injuries. One is still missing, AD reports.

A man from Newcastle in England is feared drowned after he fell from a party boat on the Noordzee canal just outside Amsterdam around 00:30 a.m. on Sunday. Emergency services searched the canal for hours, but eventually had to halt the search without success, local safety office Veiligheidsregio Zaanstreek-Waterland said on Twitter.

The man went overboard near Westzaan. The captain of the ship threw a life jacket to him, but the man disappeared under water, according to newspaper AD.

At least five people were injured in an explosion at company Grasso on Parallelweg in Den Bosch on Monday morning. The street is closed in both directions, and buildings in a 200 meter radius around the company were evacuated, AD reports.

According to the newspaper, a 50 liter bottle of ammonia exploded on the Grasso premises. Paramedics treated the injured people at the scene. As far as is known, nobody had to go to hospital so far. The building sustained significant damage. 

The cause of the explosion is under investigation. Grasso builds cooling systems and compressors.

A skipper and a sailor were injured in a collision between a freight ship and a ferry on Boven-Merwede near Gorinchem on Tuesday morning. Both victims were taken to hospital, NOS reports.

The freighter sailor's injuries seem to be minor. The condition of the ferry's skipper is unknown. There were no passengers on the ferry at the time of the crash.

A 24-year-old Dutch man was killed in an avalanche in the German state of Bavaria on Thursday afternoon. He was on a hiking holiday with three family members, the German police announced, according to ANP.

The Dutch family were hiking with a group when the avalanche happened at the German Schönau am Königssee in the de Berchtesgadener Alps. The Dutch man was knocked down and fell 60 to 80 meters. He died immediately, according to the emergency services. The other members of the group suffered some mild hypothermia complaints, but were otherwise unharmed.

A British Airline plane on its way to London made an emergency landing at Schiphol Airport on Tuesday night. Emergency services responded to the airport en masse because of a report that one or more of the plane's engines failed, local broadcaster NH Nieuws reports. The plane landed safely.

The Airbus A321 was on its way to Heathrow Airport in London. Exactly what caused the problems with the engines is unclear.

A 42-year-old man drowned in the Zevenhuizerplas in Rotterdam on Monday. He was swimming with his teenage son when he disappeared under water, NOS reports.

The boy tried to save him, but to no avail. Emergency services pulled the Bleiswijk man's body out of the water after a 20 minute search. The emergency services believe that the man became exhausted while swimming and couldn't make it back to the shore.

Emergency services responded en masse to the Shell Pernis refinery in Rotterdam on Monday night after a leak of hydrofluoric acid was discovered. Less than 48 hours earlier, emergency services also responded to the refinery when a short circuit in a high voltage cable caused a fire, NU.nl reports.

A very low concentration of the hazardous substance leaked when flushing pipes, according to the local safety office. The leak was discovered around 10:15 p.m. By 00:30 a.m. the Shell staff managed to close the leak. The acid did not leak off the Shell premises.

An 18-year-old man from Wijchen was killed in an industrial accident on Christiaan Huygensstraat in his home town on Friday. He was critically injured when he got stuck in the lifting mechanism of a lifting shovel that was being repaired. He died in hospital, the Gelderlander reports.

The accident happened around 12:45 p.m. Emergency services responded en masse. There were police, paramedics, firefighters and a trauma helicopter at the scene.

A 3-year-old boy was critically injured when he somehow got stuck under a cart on a fairground attraction at the Tilburg fair on Saturday. He is now in a stable condition and out of danger, alderman Erik de Ridder of the municipality of Tilburg said, Brabants Dagblad reports.

It took rescue workers almost an hour to free the boy. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was treated.

Four people were hospitalized when their car crashed into a canal in the Friesland town of Waskemeer on Sunday evening. Two of them, a 9-year-old boy from Leeuwarden and a 19-year-old woman from Haulerwijk, are in critical condition, the police  said in a statement.

A total of six people were in the car when it crashed int the Haulerwijkstervaart on Compagnonsweg. All six were taken to hospital, two were discharged after being checked over. 

Bystanders managed to help some of the car's occupants out of the water while emergency services responded.

The municipality of Enschede signed an agreement with drone maker DJI in which DJI will  train firefighters and paramedics in flying drones. Drones are expected to one day play a big role in emergency situations, and this agreement is intended to make sure that Dutch emergency workers are able to use them, RTL Z reports.

The Martinus College in Grootebroek, Noord-Holland was evacuated late on Wednesday morning after between 30 and 40 students and teachers became unwell. A strange smell left the people in the school feeling nauseous and dizzy. One student fainted, NOS reports.

The ill students and teachers were treated outside the school by a score of emergency services. One person started hyperventilating and was taken to hospital.

Since the previous risk assessment in 2012, safety office Veiligheidsregio Amsterdam-Amstelland dropped a number of older concerns to make room for new risks like the consequences of a terrorist attacks, increasingly dangerous storms due to climate change and the internet falling out due to a cyber attack, Het Parool reports.

After over seven hours of searching, emergency services found the body of a 14-year-old boy in lake 't Zand in Alphen late on Sunday night. The Tilburg boy disappeared under water while swimming with friends around 4:00 p.m. that afternoon. The lake is usually used for recreational purposes, like swimming, Omroep Brabant reports.

A 9-year-old boy may have saved his mother's life by calling the police when she fell ill during the early hours of Monday morning. The boy's timely call to the emergency number meant that his mom received medical aid in time to save her, the Zaanstreek police write on Facebook. "A hero of 9-years-old", the police write.

A 79-year-old man shot his neighbor in the Rotterdam neighborhood of Charlois on Tuesday morning before turning the gun on himself. The 21-year-old woman is in critical condition. The elderly man died in hospital this afternoon, AD reports.

According to local residents, the two neighbors, who shared a porch, were in the midst of a quarrel. They were seen exchanging words around 8:30 a.m., witnesses told the newspaper. The man shot the young woman right in front of their homes and barricaded himself in his house.

A woman and a man were injured in two separate shootings in Rotterdam on Monday night and Tuesday morning. On Sunday night another man was killed in a shooting in the city. 

First responders were dispatched to a shooting incident on Wolphaertsbocht in Charlois around 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, where a critically injured woman was found. Air ambulance crews were dispatched and te police closed the street. The police are investigating what exactly happened.

A father and son were arrested in Dordrecht on Thursday after they assaulted an ambulance driver, the Dordrecht police said on Facebook. According to the police, the men did not agree with the paramedics wanting to take a woman to the hospital.

The ambulance responded to Rigelhof in Sterrenburg to help a woman. The paramedics determined that she had to go to the hospital, against the will of her husband and son. After the woman was loaded into the ambulance, and the ambulance was about to leave, the father and son attacked the driver.
