Explosion damages Naarden home; neighboring houses evacuated
A powerful explosion early Sunday morning severely damaged a home on Thierensweg in Naarden and forced the temporary evacuation of neighboring houses. No injuries were reported.
NH reported that the explosion occurred around 4 a.m. at the front door of the targeted residence, immediately triggering a fierce fire. Residents of the home were able to escape through the back of the house. “The damage is enormous,” a police spokesperson said.
Witnesses on the scene initially attempted to put out the fire before the fire department took over. The fire prompted neighbors in adjacent homes to evacuate. They were allowed to return once the blaze was under control.
The police are seeking information from witnesses and any available security camera footage.
