Amsterdam police warn of pickpockets at King’s Day parties

The Amsterdam police are warning King's Day party attendees to keep an eye out for pickpockets during the festivities tomorrow. Extra officers will be on the streets on Wednesday to help trace stolen phones. Everyone attending the King's Day festivities are advised to install a tracking app on your phone and to make sure you can remember your login details. Those who fall victim to a pickpocket should call the police at once. Over the past week the Amsterdam police visited numerous notorious pickpockets in the capital and warned them that they will be watched on King's Day. While the number of pickpocket incidents in Amsterdam on King's Day dropped significantly over the past years, it is still a widespread and prevalent problem. In 2013 a total of 696 pickpocket incidents were reported, in 2014 there were 380 and last year there were 363.
