Morocco’s King Mohammed VI sips tea with Amsterdam fans

Moroccan King Mohammed VI is spending his visit to the Netherlands with his fans, posing for photos and videos or even drinking a cup of tea. It is unclear why exactly the King of Morocco decided to visit the Netherlands this week. King Mohammed VI landed at Schiphol airport late on Friday afternoon. He is staying at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Amsterdam. A number of fans gathered outside the hotel since Friday night, hoping to catch a glimpse of the king. On Saturday the King went down and took some photos with the public, something he is known to do every so often, according to Het Parool. The Moroccan King's Facebook page is filled with photos and videos with people in Amsterdam. The photos were quickly shared around the world. The media is also trying to follow the Moroccan King's visit to the Netherlands. It is unclear whether he is only here for a vacation, or whether he is meeting with Dutch politicians, or discussing the imminent of the benefits treaty with Morocco. The Dutch Senate recently agreed to stop paying new Dutch benefits to people living in Morocco, if a new agreement is not reached soon. The Netherlands wants to decrease the amount of these benefits to be in line with the standard of living in Morocco, instead of the standard of living in the Netherlands.
