Police investigate dozens of Amsterdam Noord car fires

The police revealed information about the large number of arsons committed in Amsterdam-Noord this year in the hopes that tips from the public will help lead to an arrest. A massive 80 fires were set since January this year. Detectives believe that several arsonists may be active in the area. According to the police, the objects set alight vary widely. It mostly involves parked cars, but caravans, scooters, containers and even portable toilets have also fallen victim to the arsonist. There does not seem to be a pattern to when any specific object is set on fire. The method and timing also vary, but the arson always happen when it is dark. The number of arsons increased suddenly in April and peaked in May. A witness recently gave the police a video of a suspect. Investigators would like to make contact with anyone who recognizes this man. They would also like to talk to people in the area who may have noticed something suspicious, like someone smelling of smoke or gasoline or heard someone talking about setting fires.
