Four shot in Amsterdam cafe; no suspects yet

Four people were shot in an Amsterdam bar early Sunday morning, leaving two people critically injured. The shooting happened at the Grand Cafe de Kraai in Amsterdam Zuidoost at about 2:30 a.m., police say. The other two gunshot victims were “slightly injured,” an incident report states. All four were hospitalised. Police did not take anyone into custody. They have not identified who shot the four people, and they are not sure if there were multiple offenders. Investigators believe the attack was meant to take out one specific person. It is not clear if the intended target is one of the four struck by bullets. Blood still stains the entrance to the cafe, where roughly a hundred people were partying at the time of the incident. Coats were still seen on chairs, and bottles atop tables when reporters visited the shuttered cafe later on Sunday. Neighbours living in the area were not surprised by Sunday morning’s shooting, calling it the latest in a string of disturbances. “It’s always something with that joint,” said one resident living above the cafe. “I’m sick of this shit,” he told newspaper Het Parool. Detectives from Amsterdam Oost have been assigned to the case, and have asked for all witnesses to contact them.
