An 18-year-old man was killed in an accident on Maasboulevard in Rotterdam on Wednesday. The young man was hanging - voluntarily, according to the police - out of the passenger-side window of a moving car when he hit his head against a pole standing by the road.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, according to newspaper AD. The car came to a stop over 200 meters from the pole. Emergency services tried to save the victim at the zebra crossing at Willemsbrug, but it was to no avail. He died at the scene.

The police are looking for 20-year-old Erxinio Luntungan in connection with a fatal shooting in an Amsterdam parking garage over the weekend. The police believe Luntungan was the one who fired the gunshots that killed Orpheo Gefferie, a 25-year-old father from Almere, in a parking garage on Amstelstraat on Saturday morning.

An exam stunt at VMBO school Het Hooghuis in Oss got completely out of hand last week. Masked pupils ran through the corridors, throwing things and kicking open doors. One person was injured, and other pupils feared they were under attack. The police are investigating the incident, BN De Stem reports.

The incident happened at the Zuid location of the VMBO school last week Wednesday. "Some children really panicked, they thought there was an attack", one pupil said to the newspaper.

The police arrested two suspects in connection with a fire at a primary school in Renkum in Gelderland on Tuesday evening. Both suspects are minors, aged 13 and 17 years old, and come from the Gelderland village, the police said on Wednesday.

The fire at the Albert Schweitzerschool broke out at around 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, NU.nl reports. Firefighters quickly established that it was arson. The first suspect was arrested at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, shortly after the fire was extinguished. The second suspect was arrested 30 minutes later.

The police in Amsterdam managed to identify the suspected gunman in a fatal shooting at a parking garage in Amsterdam over the weekend. They call on the suspect to turn himself in. If he doesn't do so by the end of Wednesday, the police will make his identity public.

The Netherlands is implementing stricter laws around sex crimes, according to a new legislative proposal Minister Ferdinand Grapperhaus of Justice and Security announced. Under the new law you can be punished both if you know the other person did not want to have sex, and if you could have known that. A video of a shooting in The Hague neighborhood of Schilderswijk last week was posted on streaming site Dumpert on Monday night. The video shows a fight breaking out on the street, during which one of those involved fired multiple shots.

The shooting happened on the corner of  Ruijsdaelstraat and Brueghelstraat on May 15th, AD reports. An 18-year-old man later reported to the hospital with a bullet wound. The police arrested three young men, aged 18, 18 and 23, later that same evening for involvement in the shooting.

With the help of a new computer system, the Dutch police managed to track down and detain 585 people who still had to serve a prison sentence in the past seven months. A new app allows police officers to immediately check whether someone they stop still have outstanding penalties against them, and immediately take them into custody if they still have to go to prison, AD reports.

A total of 112 terrorist attacks were committed in Western countries over the past 15 years. Three quarters of these happened in the last five years, a strong increase related to the rise of terrorist organization Islamic State since 2014, according to an analysis by Dutch intelligence and security service AIVD. The police released a composite sketch of a man they would like to talk to in connection with a fatal stabbing on Jaagpad in Groningen last week Tuesday. A 27-year-old man died in the stabbing. How the man in the sketch was involved in the stabbing, is not yet clear, the police said in a statement.

The stabbing happened at around 7:15 p.m. A short time later, witnesses saw a man near the crime scene walking towards Ringweg. He was dressed in dark clothing and a cap. Witnesses describe him as being between 20 and 30 years old and between 1.7 and 1.8 meters tall.

An argument at a pay terminal inside a parking garage erupted in gunfire, leaving one young man badly wounded. The man, identified by family as Orpheo Gefferie, died from his injuries at an area hospital, police said.

The mother of his seven-year-old child called Gefferie "the best dad" their son could have had. "We will forever love you," she said on social media.

Gefferie, from Almere, was identified by police as being 26, although at least one newspaper report said he was 24. He spent time traveling back and forth between his Almere home and Suriname.

Police in Winterswijk are investigating evidence suggesting arson may have caused a fire at a residential center for asylum seekers. Several people living at the Amstelstraat facility were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

No victims were hospitalized.

Firefighters rescued several people after the “medium-sized fire” was reported early at about 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, police said. The blaze swept through the first floor of the housing complex, but was quickly brought under control by firefighters.

Russia has agreed to pay 2.7 million euro to the Netherlands as part of a final settlement to end the dispute over a 2013 incident where Russian personnel boarded a Greenpeace ship. The amount is less than the 7 million originally sought by Greenpeace and the Netherlands, and half the amount awarded at arbitration.
