Video: Princess Amalia draws crowds in Amsterdam during tour with Mayor Halsema

Princess Amalia drew large crowds of photographers and onlookers in Amsterdam’s Zeedijk and Warmoesstraat during a visit to the Wallen district that formed part of a broader multi-day city introduction tour, with Mayor Femke Halsema accompanying her throughout the program, AT5 reported.

The 22-year-old princess moved through narrow streets in the Wallen district, where heavy media presence and public interest created congestion in several locations. According to AT5, some residents on the Zeedijk prepared in advance, placing benches outside and bringing rosé to mark the visit.

The program began the previous morning when Amalia was received by Mayor Femke Halsema at the official residence in Amsterdam. From that point, Halsema accompanied her continuously through scheduled activities in the city, including earlier stops such as a basketball game and a DJ workshop at Nachbar.

On Thursday, Amalia was met by Bonne Reijn outside his shop on the Warmoesstraat. Reijn organizes the Warmoes Biënnale, an art festival focused on the Wallen, and guided Amalia and Halsema through several related sites. The group also visited the Salvation Army and Café het Mandje as part of the route.

During the Wallen district visit, public attention intensified across Zeedijk and the surrounding streets. The area was reportedly filled with photographers, journalists, and passersby. Amalia, who lives and studies in Amsterdam, was scheduled to continue her program later in the day with a visit to Amsterdam Noord.
