Video of highway drug robbery: Trucker beaten, drugs stolen on A1 near Muiden
The police have released footage of a violent drug robbery on the A1 highway near Muiden on December 18. In broad daylight, a group of men forced a truck to stop on the shoulder of the highway, beat the truck driver up, and stole his cargo, which the police believe was drugs.
The video, shared on the investigation program Opsporing Verzocht, shows the perpetrators holding the truck driver at gunpoint. One of the perpetrators also pointed a firearm at a motorist who had stopped to offer assistance. They forced the motorist to hand over his phone and car keys.
The truck driver drove off after the robbery. The truck was recovered in Eembrugge. The police believe the truck driver was transporting drugs and arrested him.
The perpetrators were traveling in three cars. One was a Volkswagen Golf, which was abandoned in Naarden after the robbery. The police also shared footage of the two suspects who drove the Golf. They left Naarden on foot.
One appears to be tall and bald, or balding. The other is likely the suspect who had threatened the innocent motorist with a firearm, the police said on Opsporing Verzocht.
The police did not say how many suspects they were looking for in this crime. They asked anyone who can help identify the suspects who abandoned the Golf in Naarden or has any other relevant information to come forward.
