Man arrested after 83-year-old woman found dead in Veenendaal home

On Friday, Veenendaal police arrested a man after discovering an 83-year-old woman unresponsive in her home on Sandenburg Street. Authorities suspect the death may be the result of a crime, RTV Utrecht reported.

A neighbor alerted police Thursday after discovering the woman’s lifeless body inside her residence.

The suspect, also from Veenendaal, was taken into custody on Friday and remains detained as police continue gathering evidence. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the case to come forward.

“Investigation shows that the woman may have died as a result of a crime,” police said, confirming that the investigation is ongoing.
