17-year-old arrested after accidental shooting injures 20-year-old in Amsterdam-Noord
Early Friday morning, a firearm accidentally discharged inside a home on Elzenstraat in Amsterdam-Noord, injuring a 20-year-old man, according to AT5. A 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
Emergency services were alerted around 1 a.m. Multiple ambulances responded to the scene, and a trauma team was also dispatched. The injured man was conscious and responsive when he was transported to a hospital. Authorities have not confirmed the injury's location, but it may be on the side of his face.
Shortly after the shooting, police recovered a firearm near Noorderpark, close to the residence. The weapon was confiscated as part of the ongoing investigation.
Residents in the area reported seeing the emergency vehicles, including a bright yellow ambulance with flashing lights, navigating the narrow streets lined with parked cars, AT5 reported.
