Man killed in head-on collision in Horn
A 44-year-old man from Roermond died early Saturday morning after a head-on collision on Heythuyserweg (N279), authorities said. The crash occurred around 12:40 a.m. when the driver, traveling toward Horn, crossed into the lane of an oncoming vehicle, De Limburger reported.
Emergency responders, including a trauma helicopter, rushed to the scene. Officers immediately attempted to resuscitate the driver, but his injuries were fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the other vehicle, a couple from Beek was checked at the scene by ambulance personnel and then transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
The roadway was closed for an extended period while authorities conducted their response. The Traffic Investigation Team and the Forensic Traffic Team are conducting further investigations.
