Amsterdam boy, 17, shot and killed near Zuidoost football pitch overnight

A 17-year-old boy has passed away after a fatal shooting on Thursday evening on the Meernhof in Amsterdam Zuidoost. The police have stated that the shooter fled the scene and has not yet been found.

Police received a report of a shooting at 9:30 p.m. Officers found the suspect by the football field on the Meernhof. He was conscious and approachable at the time. They attempted to resuscitate the victim on the way to the hospital, but were unsuccessful.

Other suspects who may have been involved in the shooting also fled the scene and have not yet been found by the police. A large-scale investigation has been launched into the incident.

Eyewitnesses or anyone with any knowledge of the shooting or the suspects have been urged to come forward by police. “Camera footage from the area around the incident may also be of great value,” police said.

The municipality is organizing a neighborhood meeting at the Holendrecht Community Center on Monday evening.
