Two Dutch motorcyclists hurt by pigeon crossing German highway

Two Dutch motorcyclists got hurt on Sunday when a pigeon suddenly crossed a German highway in front of them. The vehicle in front of the motorcyclists had to brake abruptly because of the bird, causing the two Dutch men to collide with each other, the German police reported.

The accident happened at around 11:13 a.m. on the A61 motorway toward Koblenz.

A 56-year-old Dutch man lost control of his motorcycle and fell. He was seriously injured. First responders treated him at the scene before rushing him to a nearby hospital. His condition is serious, but stable.

The other Dutchman, a 72-year-old man, sustained minor injuries. He was treated at the scene.

The road to Koblenz was closed for investigation and cleanup after the accident.
