Video: Police car crashes into civilian’s car leaving three hurt
A police car collided with a civilian car in Zaltbommel during the early hours of Tuesday morning, leaving three people severely injured and the two vehicles wrecked. The three injured people, two police officers and the driver of the other car, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to Omroep Gelderland, the police car was responding to a report when it crashed into the other car at the intersection of Steenweg and Van Heemstraweg-West (N322) at around 2:45 a.m. The police car was driving on Steenweg when the collision happened.
The collision left the officer driving the police car trapped. Firefighters had to cut him out. The driver of the other car was flung from the vehicle and landed on the road. A second officer in the police car was also injured. All three were rushed to the hospital.
The police closed the intersection while the badly damaged vehicles were removed and the debris was cleared away. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
