One injured in Amsterdam city center shooting overnight; No trace on suspect

One person was injured in a shooting at around 2 a.m. on Wednesday by the Oudebrugsteeg in the city center of Amsterdam. No arrests have been made as of yet.

A loud bang was heard near the Damrak at 2:10 a.m. “Officers immediately went to the scene and found an injured person. Emergency services provided first aid and took the man to hospital,” police said.

Police are calling on any witnesses or anyone with any information regarding the case to come forward, as there is currently very little information regarding a suspect or a possible motive.

Most of Oudebrugsteeg was cordoned off from about Damrak to Warmoesstraat as a result of the shooting. The investigation is currently ongoing.
