21-year-old sentenced to 14 years in jail for fatal shooting of rap musician Bigidagoe
21-year-old Shairone S. has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for the fatal shooting of Danzel Silos, a 26-year-old rap musician also known by the name Bigidagoe. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) had recommended 16 years in prison.
The rap musician was shot on February 25, 2024, after a party on the Rhoneweg by Amsterdam Sloterdijk. S. has confessed to shooting at a group in which Bigidagoe was standing.
S. had gotten into an argument with the group and felt “belittled,” the court in Amsterdam has said. It was reported by the court that the suspect was slapped and pushed to the ground by the group. This led to the suspect firing four shots at the group despite his friends attempting to stop him. Bigidagoe was struck by all four bullets.
The court thinks that the “ease with which the man grabbed a firearm and took another person’s life is shocking.” They also gave the suspect a heavier sentence because the shooting happened in a public area. “Fortunately, there were not more victims,” the court said.
According to the court, only a long, unconditional prison sentence is an appropriate punishment. The court took the suspect’s young age into account and the fact that he “eventually took responsibility for his actions by being open about the events.”
S. also has to pay over 82,000 euros in damage compensation to the rap musician’s relatives.
