Weekend weather: cooler temperatures, partial solar eclipse, and time change
As March wraps up, the last weekend of the month will bring noticeable changes in the weather across the Netherlands, weeronline reports. This weekend will feel significantly cooler compared to the warmer days earlier in the week, and there’s a chance to witness a partial solar eclipse on Saturday.
Starting on Friday, temperatures will drop noticeably, especially compared to the past few days. The wind, which was predominantly mild, has shifted to the west and northwest, bringing cooler air with it. Saturday will see temperatures across the country reach a maximum of 12 degrees, although coastal areas will experience even cooler conditions. Winds will remain moderate, but the day will generally be dry with a mix of clouds and sunshine.
Despite the cooler weather, the sun will appear frequently on Saturday, creating a great opportunity to view a partial solar eclipse. From 11:17 a.m. to 1:04 p.m., the moon will obscure part of the sun, giving the impression that a chunk has been taken out of its top.
The clocks will move forward one hour on the night of Saturday into Sunday, marking the start of daylight saving time. At 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, the time will shift to 3:00 a.m., making the night one hour shorter.
Sunday’s weather will be similar to Saturday in terms of temperature, with a high of 12 degrees. However, the coastal regions will feel much colder due to a strong wind from the sea, which could make it feel like just 6 or 7 degrees. The day will begin cloudy, and occasional rain is expected. As the day progresses, the rain will move eastward, and the sun will make an appearance in the west by the afternoon.
After the weekend, the weather will warm up considerably. Starting on Tuesday, temperatures are expected to rise, with highs reaching around 16 degrees. By the end of the week, the Netherlands could experience temperatures as high as 20 degrees, ushering in a period of mild spring weather. Although nights will be chilly, especially inland where temperatures may drop close to freezing, the daytime will be sunny and pleasant.
