Fatal police raid in Rotterdam's Kralingen district leaves one dead, two injured
A police raid in Rotterdam's Kralingen district on Saturday morning resulted in one fatality and two injuries, following a gunfight between officers and individuals inside the residence, the police reports. The incident occurred just before 5 a.m. in the Speelmanstraat as an arrest team entered the property in connection with an ongoing investigation in Amsterdam.
During the raid, multiple individuals were present in the home, leading to a confrontation. One suspect was fatally shot, and another was injured and subsequently hospitalized. Additionally, a police officer was struck by a bullet but was reported to have sustained no injuries.
The raid was part of a broader investigation into the death of a man whose body was discovered in a basement storage unit on Clauskindereweg in Amsterdam-Osdorp last week. Authorities had linked the Rotterdam residence to the case, prompting the early morning operation.
Two of the injured individuals were taken to the hospital, with one reportedly being a suspect connected to the Amsterdam investigation. Investigators are now working to understand the full circumstances surrounding the gunfire exchange.
