Cop's DNA found on phone of hitman hired to murder her ex: Prosecutor
In the criminal case concerning 41-year-old police officer Jerney van E. from Gorinchem, who is suspected of plotting to have her ex-partner (57) murdered, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) announced new investigation results on Monday.
The OM said in court in Rotterdam that Van E.’s fingerprint was found on a phone that was discovered with a revolver at co-suspect Steven K.’s (37) home. He is suspected of helping the police officer with the murder plan. The OM also announced that K.’s DNA was found on the revolver and that the phone contained photos of the intended victim and his car.
A GPS tracker was found under the intended victim’s car. Van E.’s DNA was also found on the tape with which this tracker was stuck onto the vehicle, according to the OM.
Van E. allegedly developed plans to murder her ex earlier this year and involved her now 16-year-old son in the plans. He allegedly was on the point of murdering his father earlier. Sources previously told the Telegraaf that the cop wanted to kill her ex for abusing their son.
In addition to the mother and son, there are four other suspects in this case, including the son’s 19-year-old girlfriend and her mother. Van E. is still in custody. As are K. and a male co-suspect.
A preliminary hearing against all suspects is scheduled for October 25. During that hearing, the defense lawyers can submit investigation requests.
