Car crashes into water in Amersfoort; Three killed
Three people died in a traffic accident in Amersfoort early on Monday morning. The car they were in went off the road on Stadsring and crashed into the water, the police reported on X.
Records show the first emergency responders were dispatched at 1:30 a.m., including police, firefighters and paramedics in no less than six ambulances. Two medical trauma teams were sent by helicopter about 15 minutes later.
First responders pulled three people from the car and tried to resuscitate them, but it was to no avail. They succumbed to their injuries.
The police are investigating how the car ended up in the water. It is not yet clear whether this was a one-sided accident, a police spokesperson told RTV Utrecht. No details about the victims’ identities have been released.
The police cordoned off Stadsring for investigation and asked any witnesses to come forward.
