Woman sexually assaulted, choked on Amersfoort bike path; Police seek perpetrator
A man choked and sexually assaulted a woman on a bike path in Amersfoort during the early hours of Saturday morning. The police are looking for the perpetrator and witnesses.
The woman was biking home on Jan van Riebeeckpad, a long bike path that runs along the railway track, at around 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, when a man on a bicycle forced her to a stop.
The man grabbed the woman by the throat, pinching her airway closed, and sexually assaulted her. He fled when two other cyclists cycled past
“We are investigating and looking for witnesses and footage from the area around Jan van Riebeeckpad,” the police said. Investigators are also looking for the two cyclists whose presence stopped the assault to question them as witnesses.
The police did not say anything about the woman’s current condition and did not release a description of the suspected perpetrator.
