One killed, two hurt in three separate shootings
A person died in Stampersgat, and two people were injured in Leeuwarden and Oostvoorne in separate shootings overnight, the police said. The police arrested suspects in two of the shootings.
The incident in Stampersgat happened on Markiezaatstraat at around midnight, the Noord-Brabant police said on X. The victim died at the scene. The police immediately arrested a suspect and are investigating what happened.
According to BN De Stem, the shooting happened on the first floor of a residential complex. A resident told the newspaper that the victim was an older man. The resident heard three gunshots. “Just before that, I heard someone shout: call the police, call the police!”
Another local got woken by the noise of a trauma helicopter landing in a nearby meadow. “It’s quite a shock for such a small village, but it doesn’t surprise me,” she told the newspaper. “When you see what kind of characters drive through the neighborhood every now and again.”
In Oostvoorne, the police responded to a report of a shooting on Goudhoekweg at around 1:30 a.m. Responding officers found a wounded man at the scene. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. The police are investigating what happened and asked witnesses to come forward.
The Leeuwarden shooting happened near Oude Oosterstraat at 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday. Responding officers found a wounded person on Zwitserswaltje and took them to a hospital for treatment. The police launched an investigation and arrested a suspect a short time later. “More arrests are not ruled out,” the police said. Investigators asked witnesses to come forward.
