Man withdrawing cash from ATM stabbed to death; Suspects at large

Police were searching for two suspects involved in the fatal stabbing of a man at a shopping center in Hoofddorp on Monday night. The two men were seen running away after the victim was stabbed, one wearing a black helmet and dark clothing, the other wearing large glasses and a black Northface jacket with a hood, police said.

"The man stood with his wife around 8:50 pm withdrawing money, and was robbed by two men," police said. "A struggle arose in which the man was stabbed, and he was mortally wounded. The man, a 64-year-old resident of Hoofddorp, died at the scene."

The suspects were still at large as of noon on Tuesday.

Witnesses said the incident happened near the Rabobank ATM outside the Albert Heijn grocery store at the Toolenburg shopping mall. A trauma team was dispatched to the scene by helicopter along with several paramedics.

An hour later police confirmed that the victim had died, and that the family was being cared for by authorities, police said. Witnesses were encouraged to contact authorities.
