Boy, 7, drowns in Overijssel pond

A 7-year-old boy drowned in a pond in the Overijssel village of Overdinkel on Tuesday evening. First responders tried to resuscitate the child, but it was to no avail.

Emergency services responded to the pond on Elferinksweg just after 9:00 p.m. after receiving a report of a drowning, AD reports. The boy was taken out of the water and paramedics tried to revive him. But it was too late. He died at at the scene.

How the boy ended up in the water is not clear.
