One killed in Amsterdam shooting; getaway car found in Zaandam
A shooting in Amsterdam Noord on Monday night left one person dead. The perpetrator fled, presumably in a silver BMW that was later found in Zaandam. So far no arrests were made.
The shooting happened at around 9:20 p.m. on Papaverweg, the Amsterdam police said on Twitter. The victim was found critically injured on the street. Responding emergency services tried to save their life, but it was to no avail. The victim died at the scene.
Some time later, a silver BMW was found in Zaandam which is "similar to the vehicle seen in the shooting incident", the police said. Investigators believe that this was the getaway car. The area around the car on Wibaustraat was cordoned off for investigation.
As yet, no details were released about the identity of the victim.
