Police hunting Hicham Mimouni in Rotterdam assassination attempt

Police in Rotterdam issued a public alert on Tuesday night for any information about Hicham Mimouni, suspected of involvement in an apparent assassination attempt in the Zuid-Holland city. The shooting took place just before 9 p.m. on May 21, and left a 31-year-old in critical condition.

It was one of at least six shootings in Rotterdam over the last month, including three on Sunday night. A large weapons bust also took place in the city at the beginning of June.

The 25-year-old suspect was born on July 15, 1993, and stands at roughly 1.76-meters in height, police said on television show Opsporing Verzocht. Authorities noted that he had several moles or birthmarks under his left eye, and on the right side of his face above his lips.

Police also released footage of several vehicles seen in the area just before the shooting took place.

The victim was still in a worrisome state at the hospital as of Tuesday. He had been kept under police guard in case attackers attempted to strike again, reported newspaper AD.
