Rotterdam man hurt in holiday weekend shooting

Two people were arrested in connection with a shooting in Rotterdam that left a resident from the city injured. The seriousness of the man’s wounds was not revealed by police. The 27-year-old was hospitalized following the crime.

The shooting took place just after 9 p.m. on Friday at the Jagthuisstraat. Police found the victim near the intersection with Beukelsdijk.

The offenders fled the scene but eagle-eyed witnesses gave authorities a clear description of the suspects and the getaway vehicle, police said. A police helicopter was used to help track the suspects down, and the arrest was made shortly after the shooting in Rotterdam West.

A man from Capelle aan den IJssel, 27, and a 32-year-old man from Boxtel were held by police.
