Three shootings in Rotterdam; 2 hurt, 4 arrested

The Rotterdam police responded to reports of three shootings on Sunday night and during the early hours of Monday morning. Two people were injured and the police arrested a total of four suspects, RTV Rijnmond reports.

At around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, a man was injured in a shooting on Hietkamp in Rotterdam-Zuid. After being shot, the victim walked to his home on Oldegaarde, from where he called the police. A 33-year-old man was arrested in his home on Leliestein. According to the broadcaster, the victim and suspect know each other and the shooting may have to do with a previous quarrel between the two.

At around 9:30 p.m. a fight between a group of men devolved into shots being fired on Waldeck Pyrmontlaan in the Kralingen neighborhood. The police deployed a large number of officers to the area and a helicopter kept an eye on the situation from above. Three suspects were arrested. One of them had a bullet wound in the leg.

The third shooting happened on Bartel Wiltonkade in the Schiemond district in the west of Rotterdam. Local residents reported hearing shots fired. Responding police officers found a bullet casing on the street. As far as is known, no one was injured.
