One dead, one wounded in 3 Rotterdam shootings, 1 unspecified incident since noon Monday
The Rotterdam police responded to no less than three reported shootings and one unspecified incident since noon on Monday. A woman was found dead in a home on Piet Smitkade on Monday, and a man was found critically injured on Beijerlandselaan early Tuesday morning.
The police responded to a home on Piet Smitkade at around 12:40 p.m. on Monday and found a woman dead inside, the Rotterdam police said on X. Responding officers arrested a man who was also in the home. The police have released no further details regarding how the woman died or her relationship to the man.
The shooting on Beijerlandselaan happened just before 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Paramedics, police, and a trauma helicopter were deployed to the scene. First responders found a critically injured man on the street and rushed him to a hospital.
Locals told Rijnmond that they heard at least two series of gunshots. Officers found at least five bullet casings on the street, according to the broadcaster.
Records also show the police responding to reports of a shooting on Nieuwe Crooswijkseweg at around 11:00 p.m. on Monday, and a report of shots fired on Spaanseweg in Rotterdam-Delfshaven at around 9:30 p.m. As far as is known, no one got hurt in these shootings.
