€25,000 reward offered for golden tip in Amsterdam intern's murder

The police offered a 25 thousand euros reward for the tip that leads to the perpetrators who shot and killed 17-year-old Mohammed Bouchikhi in Amsterdam in January. The teenager was killed at the community center in Wittenburg, where he worked as an intern.

This case was discussed on television program Opsporing Verzocht on Tuesday. The police showed a reconstruction of the shooting on January 26th.

Two dark skinned men, around 1.85 meters and 1.7 meters tall, walked into the community center that night and immediately started shooting. Mohammed fled into an office with other people, dove to the ground and covered his head with his arms in an effort to protect himself against the bullets. He was shot multiple times at close range. The police believe that at that moment, the gunmen mistook Mohammed for someone else. Possibly Gianni L., who was injured in the shooting and also targeted in another shooting a few months earlier. Mohammed was killed.

The gunmen fled in a BMW, which was later fount burned out on Dantestraat in Zuidoost. According to the police, the people in the BMW kept an eye on the community center three days before the shooting - the car was spotted in the area then.

The police also think that there may be a connection between this attack and a shooting in the vicinity of the community center on January 16th. As far as is known, no one was injured in that shooting, but bullet casings were found.

Mohammed's family also spoke on Opsporing Verzocht on Tuesday. His father said that he lost all meaning to life with the death of his son. "I always see his smile, he was my heart."

The police urge anyone with information that may be relevant to this case to come forward. On Tuesday the police were in the Wittenburg area with their Mobile Media Lab, to answer residents' questions about this case.
