Divers search Diemen waters for signs of missing Amsterdam woman

Divers are searching the water at Waterkand in Diemen on Thursday for traces of missing Amsterdam woman Sabrina Oosterbeek. What exactly they are looking for, and why they are looking in Diemen, a police spokesperson could not say to ANP.

Sabrina, 30, disappeared in March last year. She was last seen on surveillance camera leaving her Amsterdam Zuidoost home during the early morning hours of March 8th. The police believe that she was murdered.

In June the police arrested 44-year-old Sjonny W. on suspicion of involvement in Sabrina's disappearance and death. He is the last known person to have contact with her and was also seen with her bicycle.

Sjonny W. is now suspected of murdering three women. In addition to Sabrina's disappearance, he was also linked to the murders of Mirela Mos in 2004 and Monique Roossien in 2003. Mirela and Monique were both murdered in Amsterdam.

In November last year, Sjonny W. tried to commit suicide in his cell.
