Hand grenade found tied to door of Amsterdam sisha lounge

An explosive was found at a sisha lounge on Jan Evertsenstraat in Amsterdam on Thursday afternoon. A photo from the scene shows a hand grenade tied to the shisha lounge's door with a cable tie.

The police closed down the area and halted public transport around Jan Evertsenstraat, the police said on Twitter. Explosive experts are on the way to disarm the grenade.

Tram 13's route was diverted via Hoofdweg - Bos en Lommerplein - Admiraal der Ruiterweg, Het Parool reports. Travelers should take 15 minutes extra travel time into account.

This is not the first time a hand grenade is left at an Amsterdam cafe. Two weeks ago mayor Jozias van Aartsen closed a cocktail bar on Korte Leidsedwarsstraat indefinitely after the discovery of such an explosive. And last year a club on Amstelstraat and a cafe on Kleine Gartmansplantsoen were temporarily closed after hand grenades were left there.
