Over 20 tips on random Groningen shooting after suspect photo release

The police received 21 tips about 20-year-old Azim Aynaci, suspected of shooting a 21-year-old student in Groningen, since his photo and name was released on Opsporing Verzocht on Sunday, the Groningen police said on Twitter. As yet, he hasn't turned himself in.

The victim was shot on Korreweg early on Sunday, October 21st, seemingly without any significant reason. The young man is paralyzed from the neck down after the shooting.

The police already arrested two other suspects, aged 19 and 20, in connection with this shooting. They are still in custody. Aynaci is believed to be the one who actually pulled the trigger.

The police gave him an ultimatum - turn yourself in before Tuesday's broadcast of Opsporing Verzocht, or your name and photo will be released. He did not do so.

The Groningen police also disputed rumors on social media that Aynaci is an undocumented migrant in the Netherlands. According to the police, the suspect has a residency permit and is legally in the Netherlands.
