Escaped prisoner caught in attempted burglary
A 20-year-old man from The Hague who escaped from the prison in Lelystad in May, was caught after he tried to break into a home in Drunen, Noord-Brabant on Wednesday night, AD reports.
An alert local resident noticed two men trying to break open her front door. They fled when she turned on a light in her home. She called the police.
The police kept an eye out for the two men, and spotted them in a car. The police signaled the car to stop, and the driver did so. The driver was arrested immediately, but his passenger fled on foot. The police gave chase, and caught up to him a short time later. He too was arrested.
When the police checked the two suspects' identities, they noticed that one of them escaped from the Lelystad prison in May. Both suspects are from The Hague. The police could not tell AD why the 20-year-old man was imprisoned in the first place.
