Police release ID of suspect in ice rink shooting

As the suspect in the shooting of businessman Bert Jonker at ice rink Thialf in Heerenveen early this month still has not been found, the police and judiciary decided to release his identity. They hope that suspect Charles Reinier vn der Wouden will either turn himself in or that information from the public will help locate him.

Van der Wouden is 56 years old and was born in The Hague. As far as is known he has no fixed address. He is not a big man, les than 1.75 meters tall with a slender build. He may be wearing a beard. He has moles on his face and brown somewhat droopy eyes. At the time of the shooting he was wearing a long tan coat.

The shooting happened on January 7th at the Thialf ice rink in Heereveen. Jonker was in the parking lot around 7:00 p.m. in his car when a man approached him. He opened the window and the man drew a weapon. Jonker hit the gas and the fired shot only hit hi in his hand.

The victim immediately informed the police that he knows the man who shot him. He is the former owner of a business that Jonker's company acquired in 2015. The suspect's brother told the Volkskrant that Van der Wouden blames Jonker for their company going under. Jonker and his family went into hiding after the shooting.
