The Spanish police arrested a 57-year-old man on Wednesday who is wanted in the Netherlands for involvement in a shooting at the Thialf ice rink in Heereveen early this year, the police announced on Thursday.
As the suspect in the shooting of businessman Bert Jonker at ice rink Thialf in Heerenveen early this month still has not been found, the police and judiciary decided to release his identity. They hope that suspect Charles Reinier vn der Wouden will either turn himself in or that information from the public will help locate him.
The former director of a bankrupt family business in Rijswijk is the main suspect in a shooting at the Thialf ice skating stadium in Heerenveen on Saturday. Businessman Bert Jonker was injured in the shooting. Jonker's company picked up the bankrupt estate of the main suspect's company in 2015, the Volkskrant reports.
Skater Sven Kramer took the European all-round title on Sunday. This is the ninth individual victory for the three-time Olympic champion this winter, NU.nl reports.

Bert Jonker, director of engineering company Clafis, and his family are in hiding after Jonker was the victim of a shooting in Heerenveen on Saturday. Jonker was shot in the hand in the parking lot of the Thialf skating stadium.
The decision to move Jonker and his family to a secret address was made because the suspected gunman in the shooting is still at large, NU.nl reports. The police call on him to turn himself in.
The Icedôme ice rink planned for Almere will not go through after all. The business association behind the rink was unable to gather the needed resources "to be able to deliver the agreed upon collateral", sporting association KNSB announced on Wednesday.
The province of Friesland has reserved 50 million euro for the renovation of the Thialf in Heerenveen. The provincial council of Friesland has made this decision on Wednesday afternoon.
