Rotterdam woman, child kidnapped by ex

A 29-year-old woman ad her child were abducted by the woman's ex and the child's father in Rotterdam on Saturday. The police were able to free her and the child and arrest the man several hours later, the police said in a statement on their website. The woman and child were on the way to a petting zoo when they were pulled into a car on Langenhorst. The woman was able to let her mother know what happened and the mother called the police. The police entered the car's licence plate into ANPR, a system of cameras along the roads that can notify the police if a car passes. A few hours after the abduction ANPR found a hit on Ogiersingel. Police officers approached the car carefully, as the woman and child were still inside and the man may be in possession of a firearm. Officers managed to convince the man to get out of the car and lie on the ground. The 34-year-old man from Rotterdam was arrested. The woman and child were taken to safety.
